1. Who We Are
Solar Awareness Foundation (CIN: U90009RJ2026NPL112209) — an independent, not-for-profit company providing awareness and educational guidance on the PM Surya Ghar scheme. This policy is compliant with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
2. What Data We Collect
Through forms, calculators, and WhatsApp/email channels we collect only the personal data you voluntarily provide: full name, mobile number, email address, state/city, monthly electricity bill amount, and consent to be contacted via WhatsApp/call. We never collect passwords, bank details, Aadhaar or PAN.
3. Purpose — Why We Use Your Data
Your data is processed only for these limited purposes: (a) providing eligibility and subsidy guidance, (b) connecting you to MNRE-empanelled vendors / loan partners on your request, (c) sending scheme-related updates (only if you opt in), (d) service-quality analysis in aggregated, anonymised form.
4. Consent
We obtain explicit, informed, free consent through clear checkboxes on each form. You can withdraw consent at any time by writing to [email protected] — withdrawal stops future processing without affecting the lawfulness of past processing.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only until the purpose is fulfilled or for a maximum of 24 months — whichever is earlier. Thereafter data is securely erased. Some records may be retained longer if required under applicable law.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share it only with MNRE-empanelled installers or SBI / PSU bank loan partners on your explicit request. We do not transfer data outside India. Limited processors (e.g., hosting providers, Google Analytics) may handle data on our behalf under contractual safeguards.
7. Your Rights (under DPDP Act 2023)
You have the right to: (a) Access — obtain a copy of your data, (b) Correction — rectify inaccurate/incomplete data, (c) Erasure — request deletion of your data, (d) Withdraw consent, (e) Grievance redressal — escalate to our Data Protection Officer. To exercise any right, write to [email protected] (we respond within 30 days).
8. Security
We maintain reasonable technical and organisational measures including TLS encryption, restricted staff access and periodic security audits. However, no online system is 100% secure.
9. Minors
We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 18. If a parent/guardian becomes aware their child has provided data, please contact us — we will erase it immediately.
10. Changes
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be published on this page with the "Last updated" date.
